An Actual Trainspotter

I'm An Actual Trainspotter, and I like trains. This blog is devoted to things that interest me.

Dear Neurotypicals,

My autism is not ‘a shame’, ‘a tragedy’, or a ‘terrible plight’ from which I ought to be ‘freed’. It is part of who I am. It shapes my experience of life, my social and emotional needs, my way of communicating with others, my patterns of interest and behaviour, and many other aspects of my character that are fundamental to how I view myself and the world around me. For you to dismiss my way of living as something inferior and undesirable, to use it as an excuse to harm and mistreat me, to demand that I become more like you before I can be treated with dignity and respect - that is the real tragedy.

Regards,
AnActualTrainspotter
